Each day that broke anew
Grandpa rose with the sun rising over the far hills
and opened the Word to praise the Lord
for all He would do.
What a friend we have
What a Savior indeed
A joy to share all we need
With the Lord in prayer.
An old cowboy, strong and kind
with funny eyes and a joke he'll find.
I know I am loved
Because He first loved me.
On Christ this solid rock
we stand. Not the shores
of sinking sand.
What a friend, what a friend
we have in Jesus.
We can take all to him in prayer
and know He will never forsake or leave us.
The love of Christ opening the arms of God
to carry his weight,
deeper still, past heavens gate.
What a friend of Jesus. We miss you here.
Yet no so long, and
we too will cross that threshold
and sing a new song.
And I think, and hope...
You will be waiting with ice cream there.
